Because I find the science of marketing fascinating, my BS/BA degree has a concentration in Marketing. With this science based upon targeting consumers with specific demographic characteristics, comes many compliance risks with data privacy, full disclosure and consent requirements.
The financial institution I was employed at the time did not have strong controls to ensure marketing materials were compliant. I worked closely with our marketing executive team to create a marketing concordance and policy manual that provided clear instructions and templates employees could use to assist them in ensuring marketing campaigns and emails submitted for approval met regulatory requirements.
In addition, my team created a tracking process and library to house all marketing materials and campaigns. This tracking system assisted tremendously in serving not only as a repository for marketing materials, but also for forms and policies and procedures for the entire bank.
